Plagiarism is a serious concern at all schools including Belle Isle Enterprise Middle School. According to Wikipedia, “plagiarism is the use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one’s own original work.” This is also considered “academic fraud”. The development of the internet had made copying text even easier. Please review with your student the following consequence as determined by the Faculty Advisory committee. “Students found guilty of plagiarizing will serve one (1) to two (2) days of ISS depending on the severity; during which time they must redo the plagiarized assignment. The revised assignment will be accepted for full credit, without additional penalties.” Please keep in mind that there are similar consequences for cheating on tests, quizzes, projects, and homework. These consequences are in alignment with the discipline matrix in the OKCPS Parent/Student handbook.
