At Rockwood IT Elementary, we believe that the education of children is a cooperative effort between the family and school. The parent is the child’s first teacher. Research shows that a parent being actively involved in their child’s education will improve the student’s educational achievement.

With Title I Funds, Rockwood IT Elementary provides activities for families throughout the year so that children and students feel comfortable spending time at the school, building relationships with the staff and other families which, in turn, will build a strong community.

At least twice a year parents are provided opportunities, at flexible times, to visit with their child’s teacher during Parent-Teacher Conferences. During these conferences, teachers share each child’s academic strengths and ways parents can support academic growth. Current and expected proficiency levels are explained as well as academic assessment results.

    Parent Involvement Goals:

    • Create and maintain open communication with parents regarding their child’s academic and social development

    • Plan and execute opportunities for parents to participate in school activities (at least 4 time per year)
