Jump Rope for Heart

Yearly we do Jump Rope for Heart. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer, stroke is the No.3 killer and leading cause of serious disability. Congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects. Cardiovascular disease ranks as the No. 2 cause of death for children under age 15. Overweight and diabetes are increasing at an alarming rate among our nation's youth. Join the fight and "JUMP".
Healthy Lifestyle
-
Healthy Lifestyle is a new program we have instituted at Ridgeview Elementary. If a teacher/staff member sees a child making a healthy life style choice they are rewarded with a "Healthy Lifestyle Buck". This tender can be used to purchase items in out Healthy Lifestyle Store which is available during lunchtime once a month. Healthy lifestyle is all about making good choices... exercising, eating right and helping others. You can't go wrong with a healthy mind, body and spirit!
_________________________________________
Our students take part in sports to strengthen their athletic abilities, to provide an avenue for a healthy, balanced, competitive spirit and to encourage the development of their athletic skill. The program emphasizes that the desire to win is a basic part of competition. However, enjoying the activity and having fun while playing a sport is of critical importance. The students will also learn the importance of good sportsmanship. The goal is to foster in students a positive attitude toward physical development by creating challenges in a fun, positive environment. The students will also have the opportunity to strengthen their gross and fine motor skills by running, skipping, jumping, hopping, throwing, catching and kicking.
